Derek Chisora gives honest verdict on Chris Eubank Jr’s fighting future after Conor Benn beatdown

Derek Chisora has given his reaction to Conor Benn’s emphatic victory over Chris Eubank Jr in their rematch.

Benn whitewashed a flat and fragile Eubank over twelve, scoring two knockdowns in the final round before being awarded the unanimous decision victory.

Though Benn logged a career-best performance, much of the conversation post-fight will centre on Eubank’s failure to show up in a fight he was favourite to win. At 36 years old, many feel it is time now to consider retirement, however the man himself appears to have made no such decision just yet.

Speaking to Pro Boxing Fans in the immediate aftermath, heavyweight veteran Chisora said he had changed his prediction last minute.

“I think it was all written for Conor to win it. He won it. He dropped him in the last round. I kept on saying Chris [to win] but then I saw them and I said Conor’s got it. I knew that Conor had it. Well done to him.”

Asked if Eubank Jr — who recently announced he is to be the father of twins — should now consider retirement, Chisora said no, but said that he should enjoy time with his family before making a decision on what’s next.

“He can enjoy his twins. No [he should not retire.] I don’t know [who he should fight next], but whatever he does it will be good. He should enjoy his kids now.”
